Results of training needs survey questionnaire

Thanks to the broad and precious audience interested in SELECT project, in just two months SELECT partnership collected ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฎ ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€ on training needs filled by lay and honorary judges from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy โ€“ reaching almost 50% more than the fixed target.

Interesting results emerged from the data analysis:

  • Although 2 out of 3 respondents are aware of applying the EU law during their professional activity (65.9%), almost 1 out of 2 is not (or just in part) aware of applying the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights (44.7%).
  • More than 1 out of 2 respondents (55.7%) states never to have disapplied national law to apply the Charter.
  • More than 1 out of 2 respondents has little or no knowledge about the Charter (51,7%) and its scope (56.7%).
  • Almost 2 out of 3 respondents have little or no knowledge about the legal effects of the Charterโ€™s provisions (63.6%) and the jurisprudence of the EU Court of Justice based on them (63.9%).

These findings are guiding our experts in tailoring SELECT formative material and training course, which will start in forthcoming months.
